Meetings of the Historical Society of Ottawa
Monthly meetings are held at 1 p.m. on the last Friday of the month (except in December, July and August) at the Routhier Community Centre, 172 Guigues Street at the corner of Cumberland in Lowertown. At each meeting, a speaker informs and engages members and guests about a topic of local historical interest. (Click here for a list of our upcoming meetings.)
All are welcome to attend without charge.
The annual general meeting normally occurs in May and is an occasion for the board of directors to account for its conduct during the preceding year and offer an insight to its plans for the future. All members are eligible to vote for individual candidates for the board of directors.
An annual Christmas luncheon is held each December for members. At this time, recipients of the Col. By Award and the Algonquin College Award are honoured. This event has also been the occasion for the Society, in its role as patron for the Ottawa Regional History Fair, to present a financial contribution to the Fair’s president for the upcoming event.
